University e-learning platform

This is a platform with a mobile app that serves exclusively to the European University of Tirana (UET) learning requirements and notifications for students and teachers. The mobile app is a rebranded version of the official Moodle Mobile app version 5.0.0, customized for UET's use.

Important Note: This app does not have any health-related features, does not collect health data, medical information, fitness data, or any health-related personal information. This is purely an educational learning management system for course access and assignment submission.

Media Permissions

This application is used by university students to access their course modules and upload assignments as part of their studies.

Technical Implementation: This mobile app is a rebranded version of the official Moodle Mobile app version 5.0.0. The app's core functionality, including media management features, is provided by the Moodle Mobile framework. We have rebranded the app for use by the European University of Tirana (UET) but have not modified the underlying source code or core functionality.

Media Permissions Usage: The READ_MEDIA_IMAGES and READ_MEDIA_VIDEO permissions are inherited from the Moodle Mobile framework and are used only when a student explicitly selects photos or videos from their device to upload as assignment submissions or course-related content. The app does not access photos or videos automatically, does not scan the device media library, and does not collect or process media in the background. Media access occurs strictly after a clear user action and is limited to the files selected by the user.

Technical Constraints and Future Updates: As a rebranded app, we cannot modify the Moodle Mobile source code to change how media permissions are implemented. The media permission implementation is part of the Moodle Mobile framework version 5.0.0, which uses READ_MEDIA_IMAGES and READ_MEDIA_VIDEO permissions to ensure compatibility with legacy Android devices. We are dependent on Moodle Mobile framework updates to implement more privacy-friendly media access methods such as the Android Photo Picker. We actively monitor Moodle Mobile releases and will update to newer versions that support Android Photo Picker when they become available. Our commitment is to provide the most privacy-friendly solution possible while maintaining functionality for our educational user base.
